In the news: SeedTribe on business and SDG13 Climate Action

A brief roundup of our features in the press talking about the role of business in addressing climate action.
SDG13 climate action is firmly in the news, from Microsoft’s pledge to be carbon negative by 2030 to the 2020 World Economic Forum, where climate change and sustainability lead the agenda. The role of business cannot be divorced from efforts to address climate change, and we were delighted to be featured in a couple of articles talking about exactly that.
Liv was featured in Business Green’s article on sustainable development and the climate emergency. Liv argues that for businesses to be truly sustainable, they cannot focus on only one issue in isolation, but instead ‘systems thinking’ is required. In other words, everything is interlinked: supply chains, distribution streams and product life cycles are all interdependent, as are different SDGs. Tackling climate action will have ramifications for, for example, gender equality or responsible consumption and production.
Liv also wrote a column for The UK Newspaper on how business is uniquely positioned to find innovative solutions to climate change challenges: business needs to be empowered, not demonised. Business models which focus on long-term benefits, value purpose as well as profit and consider a range of stakeholders, including the environment, make financial and logical sense, benefiting both the planet and investors bottom line.
As outlined in these articles, we truly believe that business is integral to addressing the climate emergency and our aim is to support these startups as they scale their solutions, helping to turn business ideas into reality.
